BlackBerry Download
Note: please bookmark this page! This is your unique download directory for your purchase of PCDecisions. Also please note that some browsers don't recognize these file-types and will attempt to display them rather than prompt you to save the file. If that happens (you see garbled characters on the screen) you should right-click the same link and "save" the target file instead. Be sure to note into which folder you save the downloaded files, so that you can find them again and double-click them to install. Some versions of Windows will require you to install WinZip or a similar program to extract ZIPped files.
Quick Start
If you're the "I know all this stuff, just gimme the files" type, here you go:- BlackBerry (only high-end models with at least 4MB SRAM): this.
BlackBerry
This version of the software only works on the high-end models with at least 4MB SRAM, with at least version 3.8 of the BlackBerry operating system: the 7290, the 7520, 7250, and 7270 should all be able to run it. The drg200611210246Z.zip file has the necessary .alx and .cod files in it; extract to where your BlackBerry Desktop can find it, and install using the .alx file.Important
This software
requires that the BlackBerry Browser be provisioned on the device, and
that the HTTP Filter API is enabled in your BlackBerry operating system.
To test this, please download and install the demo application
com_rim_httpfilterdemo.zip. You
may need to restart your device after installing this. If you see a
ControlledAccessException on installation or restart, it is likely that you
will not be able to run PCDecisions on your device. If you didn't see any
errors, start the BlackBerry Browser and type in the URL
"http://content.blackberry.com/". You should see a screen like that in
the picture, "This is a simple page that..."
However, in case you got the ControlledAccessException, it may still be possible to change the default by using the menu under Options | Security | Application Permissions | HTTP Filter Sample | Interactions | Browser Filters. Change that from "Deny" to "Allow". After that, you can try installing PCDecisions and it may work, due to what BlackBerry describes as a "possible bug" in their operating system. If not, of course you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price of your download.
Another possible reason for the ControlledAccessException would be that your BlackBerry is provided by a company or organization that utilizes a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). In that case, you would need to persuade the administrator of this server to permit Browser Filters (or HTTP Filters). The default is "Deny"; it must be changed to "Allow".
